The RVT System, which stands for Real Vintage Tone, is a proprietary design philosophy and manufacturing process developed by Macmull Custom Guitars to ensure high consistency and achieve an authentic vintage sound in every single instrument.
Rather than being a marketing gimmick, the RVT System is a painstaking and time-consuming methodology. It focuses on controlling the complex relationship between all of a guitar's components to achieve a specific, predictable tonal result.
The process involves two primary key features:
Deep Body and Neck Wood Matching We evaluate body and neck wood based on factors such as grain structure, weight, age, moisture levels, and frequency response. This ensures the body and neck are perfectly matched for optimal resonance, allowing them to ring out as a single cohesive system.
Individual Electronic Calibration Rather than using generic off-the-shelf electronics, we select and match electronic components—including the specific voicing of pickups, pots, and capacitors—for each guitar individually. This custom matching complements the natural sound of that specific wood pairing.
